Ukraine Mosin Nagant - If there is one weapon that deserves the most credit for defeating Nazi Germany, it might be the legendary Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle.
Numbers, and they are still available and cheap compared to their contemporaries. The most amazing thing is that the design is more than a century old.

Even now, the rebels carry Mosin-Nagants along with modern weapons as conflicts from Ukraine to the Middle East.

But there are good reasons. It's because of the rifle's simplicity, durability, and design philosophy that can be summed up as "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
At the end of the 1800s, the Russian Empire wanted to improve its armaments. In place of their existing single-shot Berdan II rifles, the empire wanted a modern repeating weapon that fired small but high-quality steel cartridges.
Russian Army chief and engineer Sergei Ivanovich Mosin designed what the gun does, a simple "open" trigger mechanism. Belgian gunsmith Leon Nagant improved the supply chain.
The gun has few moving parts, which is part of its beauty. His bee system only has seven divisions, while his shooting team has three. The heaviest is Russian birch wood.

Of the war Russian soldiers carried during the 1905 war with Japan. These guns served with the Russian army during the First World War. The Bolsheviks carried the same guns when they fought to create the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1922.
But the Soviets introduced the most popular model: the Mosin-Nagant 91/30. In 1930, the Soviet army changed the gun, installed a number of accessories and added the name "30" to its name.
Gunners shortened the 91/30 by a few inches and improved their sight on the meter. Old Imperial guns have a classic look

But if you see a Mosin-Nagant, it's a WWII 91/30 with sights measured in meters. The Soviet Army entered the war with this

The Soviet Union produced millions of Mosin-Nagants and produced their largest number in the early 1940s. In the middle of the war, the Kremlin produced the M-44 carbine.
This was not the first Mosin-Nagant carbine, but the M-44 has a unique folding bayonet that is well suited to the needs of the Soviet Army. The Carbine is 10 inches shorter than the 91/30, making it easier to carry and use in cities.
Towards the end of the rifle's life, the Soviet Army switched to rifles and carbines instead of full-size rifles. Although the carbine works well, its short barrel means that the shot is tight and the muzzle is light.
Some Really Old Weapons Are Making A Comeback In Ukraine
The armories of Tula and Izhevsk produced many of the Soviet Mosin-Nagants. Izhevsk produced a lot, because its factories were hidden among the Ural mountains, far from the front lines.
After the war, Moscow distributed them widely between communist and Soviet-allied countries. Mosin-Nagants appeared in China, North Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East. Today they are controlled by Russian-backed separatists in Ukraine, as well as Islamist groups in North Africa and the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Some non-communist countries, notably Finland, used the Mosin-Nagant version. During its two wars with the Soviet Union, Finland produced home-made weapons and modern firearms for the Soviet Union.

Finnish rifles are widely considered by shooters and collectors to be among the finest and most accurate Mosin-Nagant models ever produced. They also get a very high price.
A Ukrainian Poet's Message To The World: 'open Your Eyes. The War Has Already Started.'
Like many Russian weapons, the designers made the Mosin-Nagant with generous tolerances for different shooting conditions, especially in winter.
In order to accommodate the Russian military and their large vests, the Mosin-Nagant's stock is slightly shorter than most medium-sized rifles. This may make them more comfortable to shoot if you don't have heat, but modern shooters often control the length.
The full Mosin cartridge, 7.62 x 54mm Rimmed, is very reliable. Its curved edges make it smooth enough to feed and remove dirty or dirty cameras.
The geometry of the cartridge facilitates the production of precision or special tools. The Finns, in particular, made reliable examples of this cartridge.
Eastern Ukraine Explodes, Russian Invasion Grows More Likely
The capacity of the 7.62 x 54R is comparable to the Western 7.62 x 51mm NATO cartridge and even the American classic, the .30/06 Springfield. It is not surprising that this Russian cartridge is very different from the long-range military in continuous use.
Critics say the Soviet Mosin-Nagant was not as refined as its world-renowned rival, the German Mauser Karabiner 98k. But the opposite is that the Soviet Union worked very differently.
To threaten. World War II models do not have the fit and finish of pre-war rifles, but they are accurate and durable enough for combat.

Both the Mosin-Nagant and the Karabiner have five rounds in their internal magazines. They all have the same shape, and they both hurt your shoulder after a few shots because of their punishment.

But the Mosin-Nagant is durable, easy to maintain, and easy to manufacture quickly. It is not surprising that the Soviets conquered to win and that is why they continue to be seen all over the world.
